Philadelphia's Most Interesting Neighborhood

The Charming Neighborhood of Fishtown

I still prefer my hood in South Philly, but Fishtown in my opinion is the most interesting neighborhood Philadelphia has to offer. Its bordered by Penn Treaty park and the Delaware river to the East, and the El in the West, with dozens of awesome things to do in the middle.

Fishtown has changed a lot over the past 10 years.

When I was considering how to best represent the neighborhood, I knew balancing the new vs the old would be really tough, and potentially controversial. There’s a lot of millennials in Fishtown, tons of new businesses going up, new murals & street art, its unavoidably a huge part of the neighborhood, but a significant part of the neighborhood is just as it was before all the redevelopment.

The point of these stories isn't to provide a comprehensive guide to an area, its mainly a way to show my perspective on a neighborhood, to share the things I found beautiful that might otherwise be missed. I covered a bit of the old and a bit of the new, and hopefully that will show what it's really like to be in this neighborhood.
