From Prison to Playground
Most people are familiar with the Eastern State Penitentiary, but few have seen it like this. Even fewer know of its former life as a playhouse for children and hideaway for troubled teens between being a prison and historic landmark.
The Eastern State Penitentiary held prisoners from 1829 until 1971. It was abandoned as a prison, and repurposed as a national historic landmark 20 years later.
Bobby's story takes place in the late 80's when he was 12 years old.
